Kilakitu is a newly launched clothing manufacturer. Not only do they make impressive original African apparel, but check out their models. Kilakitu models look like real, everyday men.
Bartholomew Sullivan and activist Andrew Kiman started Kilakitu Clothing, started a one-of-a-kind cowboy shirts made from secondhand clothing. Unless previously told, you would never fathom that clothes from the Kilakitu Kenyan Cowboy Collection were made from second-hand clothes. The pockets, sleeves, and cuffs are richly detailed in various patterns. Colors used in this line definitely have a traditional African flare and range from white to bright turquoise.
Each of our garments completes a life cycle. A shirt/skirt or trouser fabricated in one corner of the world is bought and worn lovingly for years before it is discarded and ends up rediscovered in Kenya where it is combined with others and given new life.
Kilakutu is also recycling a portion of their profits back into the community as well – a portion of the proceeds goes to a local lunch feeding program for school children in Rongai.
With economic times hitting the car manufacuters hard here in America, Ford motor vehicle is taking one of there car plants and turning it into a Renewable Energy Park.
Ford closed their WixomMichigan plant in 2007 and now it will be used by Clairvoyant Energy and Xtreme Power, which will invest $725 million to redevelop its 320 acres and 4.7 million square feet of floor space.
Reported in the daily green blog, “Phil Horlock, chairman and CEO of Ford Land (created by Henry Ford II to manage the company’s more than 2,000 acres, which make it the largest land owner in Dearborn) declined to say how much the green energy companies will pay for the plant. But he described it as a small percentage of the $725 million the partners will spend to redevelop the plant.
Clairvoyant makes high-efficiency solar panels, and has developed solar parks in California and Spain. Xtreme’s systems store solar and wind power until the grid is ready to use it. It’s working on turn-key projects that will, the company says, support up to 10,000 megawatts of renewable energy.”
Ford has sold three of their 14 closed plants and now it is working on it’s fourth if this deal go’s through.
The use of aluminum cookware has been at the center of controversy for many years. It is a poison that attacks the nervous system; some symptoms include disturbed sleep, nervousness, emotional instability, memory loss, headaches, and impaired intellect.
Aluminum can also cause conditions which actually force calcium out of the bones. This can cause bone deformation and could lead to crippling effects
Aluminum poisoning can cause aching muscles, speech problems, anemia, digestive problems, lowered liver function, colic and impaired kidney function.
Conclusion
Having a father that came down with Alzheimer’s disease at 55 years old; I am taking what ever precautions I can to prevent Aluminum exposure. Some things talked about with aluminum exposure is just myth. Personally having a family 4 family members come down with Alzheimer’s and the doctors all stating that it was due to aluminum poisoning, I am not taking any chances.
Based upon The National Geographic Movie “Six Degrees Could Change the World”, these scientist have proven that if climate change raises up six degrees as this book reports “but as this sobering and engrossing book warns, such a rise in average temperature would be enough to destroy much of life and reshape our world almost beyond recognition.”
